EFFOP presentation at IFFO Meeting in Madrid
2025.6.4
At the IFFO – The Marine Ingredients Organisation Members Meeting in Madrid in May 2025, Anne Mette Bæk, CEO of EFFOP, once again shared insights into the European fishmeal and fish oil sector.
The sector continues to navigate a range of political and regulatory challenges. In her remarks, Anne Mette underscored the importance of maintaining a careful balance between regulatory flexibility and long-term sustainability. EFFOP is actively engaging with European partners to address these issues and support policies that safeguard food security and the responsible use of marine resources.
Traceability remains a key focus for the European industry. EFFOP is working to implement the European Fisheries Control Agency’s (EFCA) recommendations to strengthen traceability throughout the fishmeal production chain. This includes the adoption of electronic documentation and monitoring systems, which contribute to greater transparency and accountability.
Looking ahead, the availability of raw materials and effective fisheries management is crucial for ensuring the stability and resilience of the sector.
As the European organisation representing the fishmeal and fish oil industry, EFFOP values and greatly appreciates its collaboration with IFFO. This partnership is essential to ensuring that the perspectives and priorities of the European industry are represented in global discussions.
