EFFOP submitted feedback on 21 July 2026 to the European Commission’s consultation on Sustainable fishing in the EU: state of play and orientations for 2027.
Our consultation feedback concerns the EUs orientations for sustainable fisheries management in 2027. It emphasises that fishing opportunities and quota decisions should continue to be based on the best available scientific advice from ICES, highlights signs of recovery in several Baltic Sea pelagic fish stocks, and stresses that the long-term recovery of the Baltic Sea depends on addressing broader environmental pressures.
